Working on the Red Plains part 2

Here we are. I have finished the two pages for the process posts. As a reminder I am doing all of the Red Plains inks using Manga Studio and this old Wacom tablet:

Rather than go into a huge pre-explination, I’ll just get to the pages…. Come, away to the pages!!

Here are the initial inks. I was a bit of a dummy and started putting the grays on the wall before I remembered to save the file. So, yes the initial inks on this page have a lovely taste of gray on the walls.

Page 10 final inks: Not a lot different from before.

Page 14: I hate to admit it but, I have a hatred for this page. It is all my own doing, I tried to take a shortcut or two that just complicated matters and consistently second guessed myself. I started over on the corn field at least twice. It’s a prime example of being your own worst critic and just flat out self hatred.

Here are the pencils again in case you missed the last post:

Here are the initial inks. I did remember to save this one before beginning the gray tones.

Now, hours more work of me staring at the screen and wondering what the hell I’m doing. Luckily, I got to the end and don’t hate it so much.

This is just a little peek into how I work on this and what’s coming up. Not sure when all of this is being posted. Lot’s going on and I have not been the best at keeping with deadlines (Sorry Caryn!!) but keep an eye on topshelf2.0

Some of the finished drawings may have an odd pattern in the grays. I don’t know why. It won’t be like that when it’s posted along with the dialog and word balloons and such.
